Land for a new Vineyard

When planning to start a new vineyard it is essential that you pick the right type of property. It is very important that the property not only is in the right place but also in the right direction and of course what kind of soil is on the property.

Spain has fantastic soil for vine growing and Spain is today the country in the world where most of its farm land is planted with vine. Actually a full 35% of Spain's agriculture industry is vine when you look at area. Compare this to France who "only" has 25% planted, that is the same as Italy.

Only cereals and olive growth is bigger in Spain then vine. So this is of course the perfect place to buy property where there is already vines planted on it. You can find lots of small rural properties in Spain no matter what area you look in. But some regions are cheaper to buy in then other. For example, in Murcia you are more likely to buy a small vineyard for under 200 000 euros then in any other place we have found. There are lots of vine producing rural properties there and they produce some fine vines!

There is now 1 200 000 hectares planted with vine in Spain. This represents over 30% of the totally planted vine area in Europe.
