Italy has many small vineyards for sale and there are many really good areas for producing wine in Italy. Many of the vineyards you see for sale in Italy are pretty small with a production that is more suitable for “house hold” production rather then a full scale vineyard operation. On the other hand a lot of the small vineyards have there own wine making (winery) capability. This is something that you will not find in many other countries as there it is more unusual to sell the grape produce to some sort of cooperative or even to larger wineries.
The tradition of wine making is of course very old in Italy, dating back to the Romans.
